Windows 11 update causes issues with backups (CyberSentriq not currently affected)
Microsoft's KB5083769 security update, released in April 2026, is causing issues with third-party backup applications running on Windows 11.
The issue affects software that uses VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) snapshots, causing backup failures due to a VSS service timeout.
While CyberSentriq backups do rely on VSS, our initial investigation indicates the issue may be related to a specific driver that our system does not use. Our backups do not appear to be affected at this time.
Our investigation is ongoing, and more updates will be posted here as they become available.
